Interview with Suzy Jones, CEO following The Lister Hospital’s Outstanding Rating

We interviewed Suzy Jones, The Lister Hospital CEO to get her reaction to the result.

  1. What does the result mean to you?

The outstanding rating is very important to me and to the Hospital.  It demonstrates the commitment of each and every member of the team to deliver the best possible care to our patients and relatives.  

  1. What are you most proud of in the report?

I can’t single out areas as I am proud of every member of staff who day in and day out work diligently to make sure our patients receive the best care possible.  There are several themes throughout the report that the CQC witnessed which demonstrated that staff go above and beyond.

  1. What does this result mean for the patients?

I hope it gives reassurance to patients that our Hospital is both safe and dedicated to providing them with innovative, patient centred care be it in outpatients or intensive care.  Be it by a clinical member of staff or our devoted housekeeping or catering staff.

  1. What is next for The Lister?

We are focusing on the recommendations for improvement but also on developing the Hospital into a destination centre for complex care.

  1. How can The Lister improve from this result?

We need to be realistic, we don’t always hit the highest level we strive for but we must focus on every area of our business, which is taking care of our patients, and work to achieve and exceed not just the standards of CQC but our own.
